List Web Part for Dynamics CRM Connections

A while back I mentioned how excited I was about the changes to the List Web Part for Dynamics CRM: https://sharepointkb.wordpress.com/2008/12/18/list-web-part-for-dynamics-crm-4/ and recommended reviewing another post by the CRM team about trust for delegation about the webpart: https://sharepointkb.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/trust-for-delegation-and-the-list-web-part-for-dynamics/ and today I would like to recommend reading an article that describes how the connections work, and how to create/manipulate them for use in this webpart.

http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2009/01/19/list-web-part-for-microsoft-dynamics-crm-4-0-understanding-connections.aspx

The post is written by Nimisha Saboo and goes into great detail about connections that you can use to build various dashboards on a SharePoint portal.

The connection types are:

  1. Field to Field Connections
  2. Row to Row Connections
  3. Table to Table Connections

The article goes through each type and I recommend giving it a read over if you are using the List Web Part, or plan on using it to connect CRM data into SharePoint. 🙂

Hope this helps,
Richard Harbridge
