What’s New: Microsoft

How Microsoft does it, business case studies and examples of Microsoft technology doing incredible things.. all of these things and more can be found in Microsoft’s new IT Showcase area of technet.

There is a really cool example of MOSS and Excel Services creating a comprehensive and actionable BI interface for financial controllers here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd433177.aspx

The video is short (only about 8 minutes) and it helps show how much MOSS is cabable of once you get the data and processes/data worked out.

For those of you who are also keen on .Net 3.0, development, and workflows take a gander at this one: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd425375.aspx

And of course MOSS, PerformancePoint and SQL doing some more cool BI stuff here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd425373.aspx

The important thing about this new area is you get to see REAL examples of how Microsoft Products can be used to improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase profitability. These examples are extremely well articulated and I sincerely hope that Microsoft continues to release new ones on a consistent basis.

Terrific reads for anyone who is interested in improving their business even if they don’t intend to use Microsoft technology. As an example; the CIO scorecard one has a pretty good description of the business issues and processes around it as well as the technology solution.

What’s new for you?
